Project Coordinator - part-time, temporary
Deadline: We will start reviewing application by Feb 7, 2013.
Job Description:
Citizen Science Project Coordinator – Hunter College and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology are seeking a coordinator for a citizen science project on House Sparrows. The primary responsibilities of the project coordinator are to recruit, train, and support participants via on-line media. In addition, the project coordinator may collaborate in the house sparrow research by assisting in developing the experimental design, the research protocols, managing data, analysis, and writing papers. There are also options for social science research in this citizen science context.
The job is part-time (18hr/week), temporary (6 month, starting in February 2013), and located at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY or Hunter College, New York City, NY. In addition to a science background, applicants should have a strong interest in science communication, blogging, social media, and commitment to engaging the public in science. Graduate students supported on teaching assistantships might consider this job as an alternative type of graduate support that fosters career development in public outreach and science communication.
