I study bird ecology, urban ecology, and inclusive engagement in the participatory sciences. I'm an advocate for public science, including practices of citizen science, community science, and other participatory approaches to research, as well as diversity in science careers. I'm dedicated to training and mentoring students to become public scientists so they can pursue careers that weave science into the fabric of society. ********************************************************************** I authored Citizen Science: How Ordinary People are Changing the Face of Discovery I co-authored The Field Guide to Citizen Science: How to Contribute to Scientific Research and Make a Difference *********************************************************************** Watch my TEDxGreensboro talk Everybody Counts.
